Why the atheist is the hero and the theist is not!

I've been following an interesting thread by Salahudin at religion.netscape.com called Why the atheist is the hero and the theist is not!

Religion is there not something truly heroic in the atheist, that makes him commit to justice, mercy and love, knowing that he will not be rewarded or punished? Is there not something truly admirable in the atheist that he finds fulfillment and satisfaction in his life, knowing it is ultimately meaningless? That he truly pursues virtue for its own reward? -

The comment thread keeps me coming back.

"Ever wonder what one does in Heaven? What does one accomplish there? I've been told many times by believers that life's purpose is to worship God and find eternal life. And without meaning, life isn't worth living. But as is their failing, they never ask the next question, "what is the purpose of the Eternal Life"? Are there more tests there to give it meaning? Do you have prove you love of God all over again? Or is it meaningless? Is there a Heaven II where things are really great that you can aspire to?"

Found on a message board...Throw this at them. I challenged one of my Baptist co-workers to show this to his pastor. He was mortified. Think of exactly how boring Heaven would be!

"No sex, no drugs, no wine, no women" YIKES!

And I suppose you have to watch endless reruns of The Waltons, Touched By an Angel and Little House. But of course Michael Landon and that ****** who played Mary Ellen wont be there.

I find the whole thing uplifting. Enjoy.

I've always wondered about the forests and paper mills in heaven. You see there has to be TP in heaven because if you have a mouth, then you have an anus and all that goes in between. It's basic biology but this detail is usually lost on jeebus freaks.
