Oops, missed one

Another Pedophile pastor is on his way to jail.

A pastor in Kenton is sentenced to two years in prison for having sex with a teenage girl and trying to court another. Prosecutors say Paul Leffler used his position at the Freedom of Spirit Church to get close to young girls. Leffler pleaded guilty to gross sexual imposition. Though he is sentenced to two-years, the Hardin County sentence could put Leffler behind bars for as little as one month.

Paul Leffler used his position of authority to force a 15-year-old girl to have sex with him through abusing his trusted position of authority. While despoiling one young girl, he was grooming his next victim.

Hardin County Prosecutor Brad Bailey said Leffler had sexual intercourse with a girl who was either 15 or 16 at the time. Leffler also was grooming another girl who was 15 for what Bailey believed was the same actions he took with the first girl, he said.

Leffler, 35, used his position as pastor of the Freedom of the Spirit Church in Kenton to get close to the girls. Both were having family problems and he offered to counsel them, which was his way to reach them for his sexual desires, Bailey said.

“‘Put faith in me. I’ll counsel you.’ The setup was coming,” Bailey said.

Had the case gone to trial, the victims were ready to testify and prosecutors had an audiotape of Leffler talking in a romantic way to one of the girls that in no way resembled family counseling, Bailey said.

Justice was not served in this case. At most, Leffler faces two years in prison. He may serve much less time.
